Mike MacGregor and Nick Boyd teamed up in early 2014 as LoOse Outfit, blending Mike's background in music—starting with guitar at age 8, then transitioning to bass guitar and earning a Bachelor's in Music Performance from VCA—with Nick's journey from hard house in Brisbane to psychedelic trance in Melbourne.
Mike, known as A Charged Particle, gained fame in the doof scene for his mashup sets, winning the Maitreya DJ Competition in 2012. Nick, aka Doofmonkey, honed his skills in tribal progressive and zenonesque sound production while studying Audio Engineering at SAE College Melbourne. Together, as LoOse Outfit, they combine chunky bass lines with psychedelic grooves and deep undertones.
